Introduction
The Hekman Library Catalog is based on open-source software, so our programmers are continually working on customizations and enhancing functionality. The latest version of the catalog adds auto-suggested searching and faster-loading pages. Ask any librarian for help if you have questions!
My Account
My Account - Log in using your Calvin username and password.
- Renew items you have checked out.
- My Lists - This feature enables you to create temporary and permanent lists; create and edit notes for items in lists; place holds on items in lists; and share lists via RSS feeds and CSV files.
- Place Holds and Recalls:
If a book or other item in the catalog is already checked out, you may place a hold on it. To do this, you need to be logged in under My Account in the library catalog.
If you are already logged in, and you are in the Title Details screen, locate and click on the Place Hold option in the upper right-hand corner.

A recall may also be requested for an item that has a due date three or more weeks in the future. The person who currently has the item will be asked to return it within seven days of receipt of the recall notice. A recall will be done for items checked out to faculty, staff, and seminary Ph.D. students, or if an item is needed for reserves. This service is only available in-person (not online in the catalog); ask at the Circulation Desk.
For specific questions about your account, contact the Circulation Dept.
