Hekman Library Basics

Need an orientation (or reorientation) to using Hekman Library?  Check out this "Get Connected" guide or browse our YouTube channel with quick videos on library basics.

Note that if you're off-campus, one of the most important tips for using Hekman Library is to start at the library homepage.  This is how and where you will be identified as a Calvin community member so that you have access to our subscription-based resources.  (You'll be prompted for a login when needed; enter your Calvin username and passphrase.)

Finding Resources for Your Speech

Working on a speech?  You need a great set of resources and research from which to work.  Use a variety of sources, both print and online, to explore your topic and support your thesis or purpose statement.

If you are not sure where to start, try the suggestions in this guide or look at Hekman's Subject Guides.  The subject guides correspond to the major areas of study here at Calvin. They'll give you research databases to try and other places to begin your research.
